Linguistic Proficiency

SPAN 4070 - Hispanic Film

This essay reflects my ability to analyze different films in Spanish, La Caza and El espíritu de la colmena, and examines similar techniques used by the directors to demonstrate the effects of the Spanish dictatorship.

SPAN 3180 - Spanish Through Culture

This reaction is a written review that demonstrates my ability to read and analyze a research article in Spanish.

Culture Competency

SPAN 3180 - Spanish Through Culture

This research paper explores the problem of feminicides among Indigenous women in México, and I examine the different parts of the Mexican culture which influence these to occur.

SPAN 3070 - Hispanic World: Spain

This is a portfolio completed in class where I have looked at multiple aspects of culture in the history of Spain, and their influences or presence in contemporary society.

Literature and Humanities Compentency

SPAN 3130 - Survey of Spanish Lit I

This essay analyzes the idea of domestic violence presented in La Fuerza del amor by Maria de Zayas y Sotomayor and compares it to situations faced by Latino Women in the US.

SPAN 4000 - Spanish Women Directors and Human Rights (film)

This essay analyzes the rights of women in the past and compares the different techniques used in relation to feminist ideals within two films: Vámanos Bárbara and Función de noche

HIST 3400 - Latin America: From Conquest to Independence

This essay examines the influence that Spanish conquistadors had on the New World and their interactions with the Indigenous people there.
